About The Position

The Painter position refinishes and paints damaged body parts and bodies of vehicles in accordance with factory and dealership quality specifications and time standards. The Painter position is responsible for maintaining the requisite technical knowledge and skill to efficiently and accurately paint vehicles.

Requirements

  • Previous Body Shop painting experience
  • Valid Driver's License with acceptable driving record
  • Successful completion of pre-employment screening
  • Authorization to work in the USA

Responsibilities

  • Prepare, prime, treat, refinish and paint vehicle surfaces and vehicle bodies according to dealership and manufacturer specifications.
  • Prepare vehicle surfaces for painting by cleaning, sanding, scraping or washing and removing rust, metal, grease and dirt from work surface(s).
  • Treat vehicle surfaces with acid solution and steel wool to ensure that paint adheres to surface; mask and cover portions of surfaces not to be painted.
  • Activate paint according to supplier recommendation; apply primers and multiple top coats in prescribed sequence.
  • Coat surfaces of vehicles with paint, lacquer, epoxy, resin or other material, using brushes, rollers, spray guns and other devices, remove old paint from vehicle, using liquid paint remover and scraper, smooths surface with sandpaper and steel wool.
  • Application of high quality sprays including primers, sealers, basecoats, and clear coats with consistent gloss and texture matching the OEM finish.
  • Inspect painted units for quality of workmanship, noting any runs, sags, and unpainted areas; maintain the highest possible standards of workmanship.
  • Clean and maintain spray equipment after each use; maintain tools and equipment clean and in a proper state of repair; must account for all dealership-owned tools at all times.
  • Maintain and wear all required personal protective equipment, including respirator, in the manner recommended by the equipment manufacturer.
  • Comply with all regulations pertaining to paint, thinners, and other hazardous materials.
  • Supervise painter helper, if assigned.
  • Ensure that customer vehicles are kept clean and are only driven for business purpose.
  • Participate in painter training activities; attend factory-sponsored classes.
  • Meet customer service standards by achieving 'above district' customer service information 'CSI' scores.
  • Follow established safety protocols; report any shop equipment in improper working condition; immediately report safety incidents.
  • Understand, keep informed of, and comply with federal, state and local regulations that affect operations, such as hazardous waste disposal and OSHA right-to-know.
  • Safeguard dealership assets and customer data.
  • Complete required training assigned through the company training portal.
  • Adhere to consistent and reliable work schedule.
  • Demonstrate ethical business practices and integrity in all interactions to uphold the Mac Haik Automotive group brand.
  • Other duties as assigned.
