About The Position

This is a 2nd shift Painter/Finisher position responsible for preparing product surfaces for paint and other finishes. The role involves planning the setup and flow of products, reviewing shop orders for job specifications, and loading/unloading paint and supplies. The Painter must ensure correct finishes and colors are applied, determine product acceptability for finishing, and be familiar with hazardous materials and safety requirements. The position requires obtaining forklift certification within the first week of hire, maintaining production levels, working independently in a team environment, and responding quickly to production and customer needs. This is a safety-sensitive position due to handling heavy materials and operating forklifts, which could cause harm to oneself or others. The role also requires the ability to wear appropriate PPE and meet monitoring requirements.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required
  • Complete training in painting and or auto body.
  • Manage one’s time to maximize productivity.
  • Train others to develop depth and support in the team.
  • Recommend needed equipment, facilities, and materials.
  • Look for ways to help people being conscious of a team concept.
  • Determine the causes of technical problems and find solutions for them.
  • Test and inspect products, services, or processes. Evaluate quality or performance.
  • Determine the tools and equipment needed to do a job.
  • Maintain equipment on a routine basis.
  • Assist or perform repair of machines or systems.
  • Trained in multiple finishes such as 2 component, enamels, powder coat etc.
  • Must be able to obtain forklift certification through CAB within first week of hire.
  • Must pass and maintain ability to wear appropriate PPE and monitoring requirements.

Nice To Haves

  • Prior painting in either an automotive or industrial setting is desired.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for preparing product surfaces for paint and other finishes as required.
  • Plans the set up and flow of products through his / her area in a timely manner.
  • Reviews shop orders to determine job specifications and requirements.
  • Loads and unloads paint and paint supplies to the operation ensuring correct finish and color are applied to the product.
  • Determines if the product is acceptable to be finished or if it requires a review prior to finish being applied.
  • Must be familiar with hazardous materials and the safety requirements to work with and dispose of according to regulations and company policy.
  • Must be able to obtain forklift certification through CAB within first week of hire.
  • Needs to maintain production levels at all times and able to work independent of direct supervision in a team environment.
  • Must be able to respond quickly and smoothly to production and customer needs understanding changes to the schedule dictate the work performed.
  • Must pass and maintain ability to wear appropriate PPE and monitoring requirements.
