About The Position

An Experienced Painter is responsible for preparing, painting, and finishing surfaces with high-quality workmanship while maintaining safety, efficiency, and attention to detail. This position requires advanced knowledge of painting techniques, surface preparation, coatings, and equipment used in industrial, commercial, manufacturing, or residential settings.

Requirements

  • 3–5+ years of professional painting experience preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial, automotive, marine, commercial, or residential painting techniques.
  • Experience with spray painting equipment and surface preparation tools.
  • Ability to identify coating defects and perform corrective actions.
  • Knowledge of paint mixing ratios, drying times, and finishing processes.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong attention to detail and quality control.
  • Good communication and teamwork skills.
  • Ability to stand, bend, kneel, climb, and lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Comfortable working in hot, cold, noisy, or confined environments.
  • Ability to wear respirators and protective equipment for extended periods.
  • Manual dexterity and steady hand-eye coordination.
  • Knowledge of OSHA safety standards.
  • Ability to troubleshoot paint defects such as runs, fisheyes, orange peel, or uneven coverage.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with industrial or marine coatings.
  • Forklift or man lift certification.
  • Experience with epoxy, polyurethane, and gel coat applications.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare surfaces by sanding, scraping, grinding, pressure washing, masking, and priming.
  • Apply paint, coatings, stains, sealants, and finishes using brushes, rollers, and spray equipment.
  • Mix and match paints and coatings to required specifications.
  • Inspect surfaces for defects and perform repairs such as patching holes, smoothing surfaces, and caulking.
  • Operate and maintain painting tools, spray guns, compressors, ladders, scaffolding, and related equipment.
  • Ensure proper coating thickness, finish quality, and color consistency.
  • Read and interpret work orders, blueprints, and production schedules.
  • Follow all safety procedures regarding chemicals, ventilation, PPE, and hazardous materials.
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area.
  • Assist with training less experienced painters when needed.
  • Meet production deadlines while maintaining quality standards.

  • This position performs hazardous waste management activities regulated under the Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA-40 CFR 265.16) and Department of Transportation (49 CFR).
  • The following tasks include, but are not limited to the generation, handling, labeling, inspection, and emergency response.
  • Properly identify and characterize hazardous waste generated in assigned work areas.
  • Place hazardous waste into approved containers.
  • Ensure hazardous waste containers are closed except when adding or removing waste, labeled with the words “Hazardous Waste”.
  • Marked with appropriate DOT/GHS hazard indicators and their accumulation start dates, along with ensuring that hazardous waste materials are in their proper packing.
  • Conduct and document hazardous waste container inspections in assigned areas.
  • Offering hazardous waste to an approved Treatment & Storage Disposal transportation company.
  • Act as Emergency Coordinator or emergency response support personnel.
