About The Position

The Painter sets up and operates paint application equipment to coat production materials according to production specifications. The role uses manual and automatic spraying equipment to apply powder paint to components conveyed through a powder booth, as well as manually operated powder guns. The Painter prepares equipment and materials, checks paint coverage and quality, completes minor touch-ups, and moves finished work to the next production department. The position supports safe, organized, and efficient production, maintains accurate records and inventory transactions, and helps ensure products meet nVent quality specifications and production schedules. The Painter also participates in teamwork and continuous-improvement activities, including lean methods to reduce waste and support safety, quality, delivery, cost, and customer needs. Shift hours are Sunday through Friday, 10:15 PM to 6:45 AM.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
Powder-coat painting experience.
Knowledge of powder-coat painting in a manufacturing environment.
Ability to adapt to rapidly changing business circumstances and thrive in a constantly changing business environment.
Skill in using material-handling equipment such as pallet jacks, lift tables, and wheeled carts.
Skill in using safety equipment such as safety glasses, hearing protection, and protective clothing.
Skill in using hand tools such as pliers, hammers, wrenches, sockets, files, and screwdrivers.
Skill in using measurement tools such as calipers, scales, and go/no-go gauges.
Ability to use fixtures and computers.

Responsibilities

Use manual and automatic spraying equipment to apply paint to component surfaces conveyed through the powder booth.
Hang materials to be painted on the conveyor and/or unload painted materials from the conveyor.
Clean and refill powder-feeding units and spraying equipment, and record powder usage.
Review shop packet specifications, select the correct paint color, and apply powder using a manually operated powder gun.
Unload components and visually inspect them for complete paint coverage and compliance with quality standards.
Touch up minor paint defects as required.
Stack completed work on pallets or hand trucks, re-identify customer orders, apply the appropriate identification tag, and deliver materials to the specified production department.
Follow applicable safety procedures and report unsafe conditions or potential safety hazards.
Maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
Notify the team leader or another appropriate resource about problems with equipment, operations, materials, inventory, or documentation.
Set up finishing-system equipment and safety devices in accordance with production documentation.
Position production materials and tooling and maintain proper dimensions according to print specifications.
Select and move production materials as required.
Perform sanding and tacking as required.
Maintain production equipment and materials necessary to complete the operation.
Complete work in a timely manner to meet production schedules.
Ensure products and systems meet nVent quality specifications.
Perform transactions necessary to maintain accurate records and inventory balances.
Perform other work as assigned or needed.
Participate as a team member in continuous-improvement and lean activities to meet customer needs and reduce waste.
