About The Position
Martin Sprocket & Gear is seeking skilled Painters to join their team, focusing on producing quality mechanical power transmission components, material handling systems, and custom forgings. The role involves interpreting production instructions, preparing surfaces, applying coatings, inspecting parts, and ensuring a high-quality finish while adhering to safety protocols and maintaining equipment.
Requirements
- Average math skills.
- Ability to read and comprehend instructions written in English.
- Ability to complete simple logs and reports in English.
- Physically able to handle heavy items, including lifting, pushing, pulling, and positioning components.
- Ability to work scheduled hours and comply with company policies.
- Ability to consistently stand for an entire shift.
- Ability to learn fundamental machining concepts.
- Proficiency in using measuring devices.
- Ability to work closely with other team members, including supervisors.
- Attention to detail.
- Dependability and consistent performance.
- Flexibility to respond effectively to shifting production demands.
Nice To Haves
- Experience in a non-climate-controlled shop environment.
Responsibilities
- Interpret process sheets, blueprints, and supervisor instructions to complete production tasks.
- Clean, mask, plug, or block surfaces not to be coated.
- Apply paint or other coating material to stock and custom parts, ensuring even coverage and avoiding overspray.
- Verify stenciling accuracy against blueprints and check for defects, performing patching and grinding as needed.
- Achieve a smooth, even coating free of runs, pinholes, or bare spots, recoating or touching up as needed.
- Follow all safety guidelines, including wearing required PPE and safely maneuvering parts.
- Clean and maintain spray booths, application equipment, filters, and tanks.
- Ensure necessary painting and coating supplies are stocked.
- Move completed items to the final inspection or shipping area.
- Support additional tasks or assist other departments as required.
