About The Position

Incumbent under the direction of the Operations Manager and/or Lead will prepare and paint various surfaces as assigned. Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Must have one of the following:
  • 2 years of experience in general trades building maintenance in the areas of basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical, HVAC, or other craft trades.
  • Completion of an associates degree in building maintenance or other craft trade.
  • Completion of a 2-year vocational craft trade program.
  • A minimum of two (2) years of broad based knowledge of painting trade and commercial equipment.
  • Any equivalent combination of related education and/or experience will be considered
  • All qualifications must be met by the time of employment
  • Will be required to participate in all requirements and related activities as may be necessary to meet Medical Monitoring and training requirements of a Research Facility.
  • Knowledge of painting trade methods and practices
  • Knowledge of local, state and federal building codes
  • Ability to read blue prints and construction diagrams
  • Knowledge of warehousing functions
  • Ability to stoop, bend, crawl and climb heights over 10 feet
  • Ability to work in inclement weather conditions
  • Ability to work around moving equipment
  • Ability to have excellent eye to hand coordination
  • Ability to hear and interpret sounds in work area and verbal instructions
  • Ability to lift materials over 50 lb
  • Ability to work in extreme hot or cold area such as steam tunnels and coolers
  • Ability to use logical problem solving techniques
  • Ability to communicate well utilizing both written and oral instructions
  • Ability to work in extreme hot or cold area such as steam tunnels and coolers.
  • Ability to operate a state vehicle
  • Ability to operate a computer

Responsibilities

  • Is responsible for preparation and painting of all types of various surfaces related to the Health Sciences facilities and associated research areas.
  • Prepare and finish various wood surfaces such as door and cabinets utilizing proper materials and techniques
  • Prepare and paint equipment as assigned. Will be responsible to ensure equipment is locked out and tagged out and follow all safety instructions regarding work practices and application procedures.
  • Will apply all materials according to manufacturer's recommendations with regard to personal safety and individuals within work area.
  • Will ensure safety barriers, safety procedures, safety equipment, etc. are properly utilized to include personal protection equipment, caution tape, ventilation, harnesses, etc.
  • Must be able to work from scaffolding, ladders, and other equipment utilizing brush, rollers and/or spray equipment in application of various varnishes, paints, or other types of finish products.
  • Will maintain safe standards and working conditions following all state, local, and federal requirements.
  • Operate and various equipment with the painting trade, such as mixers, tinting equipment, shakers, spray machines, etc.
  • Is required to leave worksites in clean orderly fashion.
  • May be required to fill in for Lead or assist other crafts as assigned. May be required to operate a state vehicle power scaffold, or similar types of equipment.
