About The Position

The Mundy Companies is hiring a Painter / Sandblaster for a 3-week project in the Texas City, Texas area. This role involves industrial painting and sandblasting in a petrochemical, industrial, or manufacturing environment. The successful candidate will have a minimum of three years of continuous and current experience and must be willing to assist other crafts. A strong commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement is essential, along with the ability to follow instructions and communicate effectively. Craft certification or the ability to pass a craft test, along with a criminal background check and pre-employment drug screen, are required.

Requirements

• Minimum of three (3) years of continuous and current experience as an Industrial Painter in a petrochemical, industrial, or manufacturing environment
• Ability to pass a craft test
• Ability to pass a criminal background check
• Ability to pass a pre-employment drug screen
• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions in a safe, efficient manner
• Ability to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing

Responsibilities

• Reads work order or receives instructions verbally
• Prepares surface using method appropriate for surface to be painted
• May fill cavities and dents with putty to attain smooth surface
• Selects and mixes coating liquid to produce desired color, according to specifications using paddle or mechanical mixer
• May erect scaffolding or set up ladder to perform tasks above ground level
• Apply paint to surface using a spray gun, brush, or roller
• Clean Surfaces of metal or hard compositions to remove scale, sand, paint, grease, tar or dirt to prepare specified finish using abrasive blasting equipment shovel or pour abrasive of specified grade into machine hopper
• Mask specified areas of object to protect from sandblasting
• Regulate pressure and composition of abrasive mixture flowing through nozzle
• Direct blast or flow of abrasive laden air, gas, or liquid over surface to be blasted
• Maintain a high degree of personal safety and environmental awareness at all times.
