About The Position

The Field Industrial Painter/Sandblaster assists the crew foreman and crew members with ground organization and work on water towers. The role supports rigging, operates blast pots and paint pumps, and assists with other tower work. The employee is responsible for meeting safety, quality, and production standards and goals. Work is primarily in the field and may involve unfavorable hot or cold weather and working at heights up to 200 feet. Selected candidates must attend in-person new-hire orientation and safety training, including a climb test, at Maguire’s main campus in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. Other duties may be assigned.

Nice To Haves

• High school graduate or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Maintain 100% tie-off when working on a water tower.
• Unload equipment and rigging from the work shack.
• Assist with setting up rigging, scaffolding, and equipment.
• Assist with rigging the tower according to instructions.
• Operate blast pots and paint pumps.
• Prepare surfaces for painting through pressure washing, light sandblasting, and removing sand from the tank interior.
• Document and inspect personal safety equipment daily, including steel-toe work boots.
• Check rigging daily for proper setup and secure attachment points.
• Complete personal timecards.
• Operate and fuel compressors and welders.
• Assist with inspection of prepared and painted surfaces using wet and dry mill gauges.
• Unrig, load, and secure equipment on trailers when the job is complete.
• Keep the ground, truck, trailer, and job shack organized and clean.
• Communicate with the foreman about assigned tasks and proper procedures.
• Adhere to Maguire’s PPE Policy and Safety Programs.
• Work at a sustained pace while producing quality work.
