About The Position

This role involves preparing surfaces, removing rust, scale, and old coatings, and applying primers, coatings, and finishing coats to fabricated parts and equipment using specialized spray guns. The position requires mixing and matching colors, selecting appropriate abrasives, and maintaining equipment. Safety procedures, including adherence to OSHA standards and proper use of PPE, are paramount. The role also includes assisting with surface preparation using sandblasting equipment and performing other assigned duties.

Requirements

High school diploma/GED
Selecting and utilizing appropriate abrasives (e.g., grit, shot, sand) based on the material.
Previous experience in industrial painting, blasting techniques, surface preparation standards, manufacturing, or finishing.
Familiarity with paint types (epoxies, urethanes) and application equipment.
Ability to stand for long periods, lift heavy objects (often 50+ pounds), and work in confined spaces.

Nice To Haves

Oilfield experience preferred.

Responsibilities

Preparing surfaces, removing rust, scale, and old coatings to clean or roughen surfaces.
Covering areas not to be painted using tape, paper, or drop cloths to prevent overspray.
Applying primers, coatings, and finishing coats to fabricated parts and equipment using specialized spray guns.
Mixing and matching colors and coatings to meet specific job requirements.
Selecting and utilizing appropriate abrasives (e.g., grit, shot, sand) based on the material.
Cleaning and maintaining paint guns, spray booths, pumps, and hoses to ensure proper functionality.
Following safety procedures, operating scaffolding/ladders safely, and cleaning tools and work areas after completion.
Adhering to OSHA safety standards, using PPE (respirators, suits), and managing hazardous materials.
Assisting with surface preparation using sandblasting equipment.
Ensuring high-quality, professional finishes.
Completing projects on schedule.
Following verbal/written instructions and communicating with team members.
