About The Position

This role is responsible for all facets of paint, base spray foam, and powder coating of parts and fixtures. The position involves preparing and painting components, parts, fixtures, door jambs, base extrusion, base frames, and finished products according to specifications. The Painter/Powder Coater will follow established process procedures and manufacturers' recommendations for using coating products, adhering to Virginia environmental procedures. This role requires the use of various hand and power tools, setup, operation, and maintenance of paint spraying equipment, and performing necessary maintenance on the paint/foam spray booth, including filter changes and interior booth cleaning. Accurate completion of daily logs (Spray Log and Shift Readings Log) is essential. The position also involves material handling, quality assurance inspections, in-process paperwork, inventory control of paint, foam, and powder, and accurate daily reporting of labor to specific work orders. Maintaining a safe and organized work area and notifying supervisors of any issues are key responsibilities. For foam spraying, surface preparation and masking are required, along with the setup, operation, maintenance, and calibration of the Graco – Reactor2 H-50 spray foam system and accessory spray guns. Validation of spray foam application to correct specifications is also part of the role. For powder coating, preparation and painting of parts, fixtures, and frames to meet customer requirements are necessary, following established process procedures. Setup and operation of powder coating equipment, maintenance of powder coating equipment, spray booth, and bake oven are included. Quality inspection processes before, during, and after coating, accurate tagging of parts, and inventory control of colored powder and filters are also required. Additional duties may include assisting in other factory operations (Assembly, Punch-Off, Foam Panel, Paint, Foam, Powder Coat) to maintain workflow and meet schedules, maintaining clean work areas, adhering to safety rules, and participating in meetings for training and problem resolution. The role also involves performing other related duties as assigned.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the preparation and painting of components, parts, fixtures, door jambs, base extrusion, base frames and finished products as specified.
  • Following established process procedures and various manufactures recommendations for using coating products.
  • Will follow and adhere to established Virginia environmental procedures and process.
  • Set-up, operation and maintenance of all paint spraying equipment.
  • Perform all necessary maintenance to the paint / foam spray booth as required (i.e. filter changes, interior booth spray, floor cover).
  • Responsible for accurate completion daily Spray Log (Paint Spray Booth (SB2).
  • Responsible for accurate completion of Shift Readings Log (Paint Spray Booth (SB2).
  • Perform material handling procedures in a safe and effective manner.
  • Adhere to Munters Quality System.
  • Complete quality assurance inspection and in-process paperwork as required.
  • Inventory control as it relates to the position (i.e. paint, foam, powder).
  • Ensure the daily accurate reporting of employee’s labor to specific work orders.
  • Maintain safe, and organized work area.
  • Notify supervisor, cell leader or other appropriate resource when problems arise concerning equipment, operations, materials, inventory, or documentation.
  • Responsible for the preparation of work surface to be foam sprayed (bottom of base frames) and masking of any areas that should not come in contact with foam spray or overspray (base frame rails, footers, floors etc).
  • Set-up and operation of Graco – Reactor2 H-50 (Plural Components Proportioner) spray foam system.
  • Maintenance and calibration of Graco – Reactor2 H-50 (Plural Components Proportioner) spray foam system and accessory spray guns by operator as deemed necessary.
  • Validate spray foam is applied to the correct specifications listed in specific job work order submittal documentation (in the Production Shop Packet).
  • Inventory control as it relates to the position (i.e. spray foam tank Kanban, various spare parts associated with the spray foam equipment).
  • Responsible for the preparation and painting of parts, fixtures, frames etc. as specified to meet customer requirements.
  • Setup and operation of Powder Coating Equipment based on prescribed application methods.
  • Responsible for all maintenance of powder coating equipment, spray booth and bake oven.
  • Responsible for all pre-coat, in-process and finished quality inspection processes.
  • Responsible for the accurate tagging of parts after coating process.
  • Inventory control as it relates to the position (i.e. on-hand colored powder, spray booth filters and various spare parts associated with the powder coating equipment).
  • Perform or assist with any operations throughout the factory (i.e. Assembly, Punch-Off, Foam Panel, Paint, Foam, Powder Coat), as required to maintain workflow and to meet schedules and quality requirements.
  • Maintain work areas in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Consistently operate in keeping with all safety rules and requirements.
  • Participate in any variety of meetings and work groups to assist with training new employees, integrate activities, communicate issues, obtain approvals, resolve problems, and maintain specified level of knowledge pertaining to new developments, requirements, and policies.
