About The Position

This position involves mixing and applying paint using brushes, rollers, or sprayers. The role requires finishing drywall and performing plaster-related repairs to industry standards. Additionally, the Painter/Plasterer will conduct inspections of fire separations and fire stopping, and install and repair fire stopping according to UL standards, certifying their own installations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent is required.
  • Minimum of one year full-time experience as a painter in industry, commercial or an institution.
  • Must have working knowledge of fire rated applications and installation standards.
  • Must possess a current driver's license.
  • Must possess UL certification for fire stopping application/installation or attain certification within 30 days of hire as a contingency of employment.
  • Act 34 clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a certified apprentice painting program.

Responsibilities

  • Mix and apply paint at the rate of 2,000 square feet per eight-hour-day on smooth or pre-finished walls, 1,200 square feet per eight-hour-day on rough walls, including but not restricted to concrete or masonry block, rough plaster, acoustical tile and others of similar texture.
  • Perform minor repair jobs on walls before painting.
  • Refinish furniture, stain, lacquer, paint, and polish.
  • Floor leveling and surface preparation/masonry.
  • Perform masonry repairs as needed.
  • Preparation and installation of ceramic tile, stone and marble.
  • Surface finishing and grouting of tile, stone and marble.
  • Custom tile installation and setting; repair/replacement of existing materials.
  • Assist carpenters in construction projects, stud walls, hang drywall, demolition, installation of grid work, tile, and acoustical ceilings.
  • Perform inspections of fire separation and fire stopping.
  • Install and repair fire stopping at UL standards and certify their own installations.
  • Perform fire barrier preventive maintenance and maintain code knowledge base.
  • Perform any maintenance work required in which skills can be utilized.
  • Maintain clean and safe work area, equipment rooms and shop area.
  • Perform all work following infection control procedures.
  • Responsible for setting-up appropriate level of infection control containment (ICRA) based on risk level and maintaining the integrity of that containment.
  • Order material necessary for any job.
  • Record personal work orders and submit hours on a daily basis.
  • Exhibit, both verbally and behaviorally, a commitment to the values of service excellence in carrying out on-going duties.
