About The Position

Under supervision, prepare and apply plastering materials to interior and exterior surfaces; perform related work. This position involves applying various plastering materials, including fireproofing, soundproofing, and different types of stucco. The role requires using tools like a hawk and trowel to apply materials to walls, ceilings, piers, and columns. Responsibilities also include plastering partition walls, patching plaster and sheet rock walls, and setting up and working on scaffolds. The work must be performed in accordance with plans and specifications, and record-keeping is required. Additionally, the role involves supervising assigned personnel. Candidates will be required to take and pass a practical exam which involves applying a hard troweled plaster finish to specific dimensions without imperfections, ensuring walls and ceilings are straight and true with three finished corners. A full plasterer's uniform and a complete set of plaster tools are mandatory for the exam. Travel to developments within the assigned neighborhood is a requirement, with the frequency determined by the Neighborhood Administrator. This specific position covers Manhattan Neighborhood 04, including Amsterdam, Douglass, Dehostos, and Straus.

Requirements

  • Three years of full-time satisfactory experience performing plastering work; or At least one and half years of full-time satisfactory experience performing plastering work, plus sufficient full-time experience as a plasterer's apprentice, or training of a relevant nature acquired in an approved trade or vocational school, to make up the equivalent of three years of acceptable experience.
  • Six months of acceptable experience will be credited for each year of apprentice experience or approved trade or vocational high school training.
  • Must wear a full Plasterers uniform for the practical exam.
  • Must have a full set of plaster tools for the practical exam.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare and apply all plastering materials which include Fireproofing, Soundproofing, and all types of Cement Stucco, E.I.F.S. Stucco, etc.
  • Using a hawk and trowel, apply plastering materials to walls, ceilings, piers and columns.
  • Plaster partition walls and patch plaster walls with limited areas of damage.
  • Tape sheet rock and repair damaged sheet rock walls.
  • Set up and work on scaffolds.
  • Perform work in accordance with plans and specifications.
  • Maintain records.
  • Supervise assigned personnel.
  • Travel to Developments within assigned neighborhood.
