About The Position

The Painter/Blast Helper applies paint, varnishes, and stains to exterior surfaces of metal products, primes surfaces as needed, and may select paint for the application or job. The role includes preparing and using paint and sandblasting equipment, cleaning and maintaining tools and equipment, completing records, and performing janitorial activities. The position follows instructions and pre-established guidelines, works under immediate supervision, and typically reports to a supervisor or manager. The level and degree of responsibilities vary according to experience and assigned job step. Helpers are preferred to have at least six months of documented field experience in their chosen craft discipline and must be able to read and interpret instructions and documentation. The role requires compliance with safety and project rules, including wearing required personal protective equipment.

Requirements

• Ability to read and interpret instructions and documentation.
• May require a high school diploma or equivalent.
• May require previous experience in the field or a related area.
• Preferred minimum of six months of documented field experience in the chosen craft discipline.

Responsibilities

• Apply paint, varnishes, and stains to exterior surfaces of metal products.
• Prime surfaces as necessary.
• Select paint according to the application or job when needed.
• Stir paint, pour it into a spray container, and apply primer or finish coats using a spray gun.
• Disassemble paint and sandblasting equipment and clean the equipment.
• Complete records, maintain tools and equipment, and perform janitorial activities.
• Observe and comply with safety and project rules, including wearing required personal safety equipment.
• Perform other duties as required.
• Follow instructions and pre-established guidelines to perform job functions.
