About The Position

The Painter Assistant supports professional painters in their daily work by supplying or holding materials and tools, cleaning work areas, and setting up parts to be painted. The role uses knowledge of surface preparation and painting techniques and may involve spray-painting equipment, power tools, and other work aids. The assistant also helps maintain a safe, clean work environment and may perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED preferred.
Basic computer proficiency, including basic data entry into a manufacturing software system.
Ability to read and write English.
Ability to read and comprehend simple instructions, short correspondence, and memos.
Ability to write simple correspondence.
Ability to present information effectively in one-on-one and small-group situations to customers, clients, and other employees.
Ability to read and interpret safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily; reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

Responsibilities

Follow general company and corporate policies and procedures, as well as department policies and procedures.
Strip, sand, and mask surfaces; touch up surfaces; and manually blend finishes to match surrounding areas.
Regulate equipment controls to cure and dry paint or other coatings.
Clean spray-painting equipment and brushes with solvent.
Monitor and verify work quality in accordance with industry standards.
Record paint types and amounts used for environmental regulation reporting.
Record completion of painting operations on planning documents.
Maintain a safe and clean working environment, including cleaning the paint booth area and complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
Report to work on time, follow supervisor or management instructions, interact well with coworkers, and follow work rules and procedures.
Cross-train in different processes within the department.
Clean the site after painting work is completed.
Perform other duties as needed or assigned.
