About The Position

Zehnder Rittling is hiring a skilled and detail-oriented Powder Coat Paint Line Technician to join our team. This position involves managing and maintaining the powder coating process and equipment, ensuring high-quality finishes on a variety of products. The technician will operate and troubleshoot equipment, mix and apply powder coating materials, and ensure all safety and quality standards are adhered to during production. Reliable transportation is required for 5:00 am to 3:30 pm shift Monday through Thursday along with overtime when needed on Friday for 5:00 am to 3:30 pm and sometimes Saturday for 5:00 am to 11:00 am. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment are essential for success in this role.

Requirements

  • Previous experience in powder coating, spray painting, or a similar manufacturing environment is preferred.
  • Knowledge of powder coating materials, processes, and equipment.
  • Ability to use hand tools and equipment safely and effectively.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to inspect and maintain quality standards.
  • Ability to troubleshoot and resolve technical issues with coating systems.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds, stand for long periods, and work in an environment with exposure to heat, dust, and noise.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Powder Coat Painting: 1 year (Required)
  • Ability to Commute: Buffalo, NY 14220 (Required)

  • Technical certifications or training in industrial painting or related fields is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Operate and monitor the powder coating line to ensure the coating process meets specifications, including temperature, time, and coating thickness.
  • Apply powder coating materials to various substrates using electrostatic guns, ensuring even coverage and consistent application.
  • Inspect coated parts for defects, ensuring that the finish is uniform, smooth, and free from defects such as runs, sags, or inconsistencies.
  • Perform routine maintenance and troubleshooting of the powder coating equipment, including the booth, spray guns, wash tanks, ovens, and conveyors.
  • Maintain proper pH and chemical composition of wash/rinse tanks.
  • Adhere to all company safety protocols and environmental regulations. Ensure proper handling and disposal of hazardous materials.
  • Monitor and manage inventory of powder coating materials, including pigments, chemicals, and other consumables.
  • Maintain accurate production records, including batch numbers, production time, and any issues encountered during the coating process.
  • Suggest and implement improvements to increase efficiency, reduce waste, and enhance product quality.
