About The Position

UT Southwestern Medical Center is actively seeking an experienced Paint Shop Foreman to lead painting and coating operations across its multi-site medical and academic campus. We are looking for someone with at least three (3) years of journeyman-level painting experience and demonstrated supervisory or lead experience. Must maintain an active/valid State of Texas driver's license at all times and ability to pass respirator fit testing, pass a color vision test, and lift up to 50 pounds. As the Paint Shop Foreman, you will oversee painting and coating operations across our expansive, multi-site medical and academic campus. Ensures high-quality surface maintenance, manages shop workflows, and maintains strict compliance with hospital infection control (ICRA), OSHA, and Joint Commission standards. Works under general supervision to supervise work crew responsible for maintaining buildings and grounds for UT Southwestern Medical Center. Responsible for directing work of crew while personally performing work as member of crew in one of following areas: Preventative Maintenance or Mechanical Services. Work Location: Dallas Campus; may require travel to and from other UTSW locations. Shift Requirement: 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM, Monday to Friday; overtime available but must be approved by senior leader.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, vocational school, or GED.
  • 3 years skilled or journeyman level experience in assigned area.
  • Must maintain an active/valid State of Texas driver's license at all times.
  • Ability to pass respirator fit testing.
  • Ability to pass a color vision test.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Assist assigned crew members in resolving work-related problems and questions.
  • Confer with personnel, such as management, engineering, quality control, customers, and co-workers to coordinate work activities and resolve problems.
  • Examine objects, systems, or facilities such as HVAC or utility systems and analyze information to determine installation, service, or repair needed.
  • Recommend or initiate personnel actions, such as employment, performance evaluations, promotions, transfers, discharges, and disciplinary measures.
  • Requisition materials and supplies, such as tools, equipment, and replacement parts for work activities.
  • Train workers in methods, procedures, and use of equipment and work aids, such as drawings, hand tools, and test equipment.
  • Ensure quality and quantity of work performed by assigned crew is appropriate.
  • Ensure client is satisfied with work.
  • Perform work of crew members, when necessary.
  • Assume duties of supervisor in his/her absence according to supervisor's instructions.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
