About The Position

The Paint Technician plays a crucial role in the manufacturing process by ensuring that all painted products meet the highest quality standards. This position involves preparing surfaces, mixing paints, and applying coatings to various materials while adhering to safety and environmental regulations. The Paint Technician will also be responsible for troubleshooting issues during the painting process and making necessary adjustments to achieve optimal results. Attention to detail and a commitment to quality are essential, as the final appearance of the product directly impacts customer satisfaction. Ultimately, the Paint Technician contributes to the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the manufacturing operation.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required.
  • Ability to consistently meet or exceed established productivity and quality levels.
  • Familiarity with safety regulations and environmental standards in manufacturing.

Nice To Haves

  • Manual painting experience is beneficial, but not required.
  • Certification in paint application or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience with automated painting systems or robotics is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Submit a daily End of Shift Report (written or via email) detailing production runs to the Production Supervisor.
  • Notify the Production Supervisor of any downtime lasting more than 15 minutes.
  • Document all factors preventing the production team from meeting KPIs or daily scheduled production goals in the End of Shift Report.
  • Attend the daily schedule meeting with the Production Supervisor to review the day’s events, discuss tomorrow’s goals, and address any concerns.
  • Update weekly action plans focusing on rate improvements, material usage, and first-time yields versus quoted improvements.
  • Ensure all necessary paperwork is completed and submitted to the appropriate personnel.
  • Label all paint with APPROVED stickers and ensure proper documentation for any cut paint.
  • Perform required maintenance and document actions taken to maximize uptime.
  • Maintain uptime on all scheduled production lines.
  • Maintain a visible presence on the floor within the Paint Area, actively observing, listening, training, guiding, mentoring, and supervising team members.
  • Show measurable improvements in daily P2 effectiveness, material usage, first-time yields, quoted PPH, and overall line effectiveness.
  • Prepare for the next day’s production by ensuring that paint, equipment, and other necessary materials are available and ready for use.
  • Spend minimal time in the Inspection and Load areas unless assisting the Supervisor or answering questions.
  • Apply problem-solving techniques, identifying issues, and achieving measurable results.
