About The Position

The Paint Process Technician (Kitchen) is responsible for maintaining the paint inventory in the Paint department, ensuring procedures and equipment are optimized for efficiency and first-time yield. This role involves driving continuous improvement, collaborating with the Paint Supervisor and Process Engineer on process and engineering changes, and participating in the development and implementation of corrective action plans for quality issues. The technician will also evaluate and improve techniques to reduce downtime and extend equipment life, document all activities, and provide support to ensure compliance with company guidelines, union contracts, IATF 16949, ISO14001, and all applicable government regulations and standards. Additional responsibilities may be assigned by management.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or Equivalent
  • Knowledge of customer needs, meeting quality standards for services, and evaluation of customer satisfaction.
  • Knowledge of production processes, quality control, costs, and other techniques for maximizing the effective manufacture.
  • Knowledge of paint processes and tooling, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance.
  • Knowledge of paint viscosity in relationship to paint reduction with different types of reducing solvents.
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principles involved in production.
  • Use of computers, preferably in a PC, Windows-based operating environment
  • Organizing resources and establishing priorities.
  • Support management in implementing short and long term goals.
  • Obtain the skills to track production OEE through measuring first time quality, utilization, and efficiency.
  • Operate the kinds of tools and equipment needed to do a job, including hilo.
  • Maintain processes, systems, and procedures within the paint kitchen.
  • Communicate effectively, orally and in written.
  • Maintain systems necessary to collect, to maintain, and analyze data.
  • Identify problems, and help implement solutions.
  • Maintain processes that meet production targets and customer quality requirements.

  • The ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer)
  • Ability to work in a non-climate controlled manufacturing environment.
  • Upper body mobility is required along with the physical requirements of lifting, carrying and pushing/pulling.
  • Must be able to stand 90% of the time with frequent walking.
  • Lift using one or two hands up to 50 lbs.
  • Occasional use of forceful abilities from 1 to 30 pounds during the duration of the shift.

  • Document all activities as required.
  • Provide support and maintain compliance with all company guidelines, union contracts, IATF 16949, ISO14001, and all applicable government regulations and standards.
  • Any additional responsibilities deemed necessary by management.
