About The Position
The Paint Prepper prepares vehicle surfaces for painting and supports the paint team in completing repairs on schedule. This position is paid on a commission/flag rate structure, with flag pay guaranteed to meet local minimum wage requirements for all hours worked each week. The listed compensation range represents average flag pay for a typical full-time employee in this position.
Requirements
- Prior experience in the vehicle paint process.
- Ability to receive directions and work well with others.
- Must be able to pass a thorough background check.
Nice To Haves
- I-CAR certifications preferred.
Responsibilities
- Remove grease, dirt, paint, or rust from vehicle surfaces using abrasives, solvents, brushes, blowtorches, washing tanks, or sandblasters.
- Assist the painter with pre-paint blending needs.
- Work with the paint team to keep vehicles on track for scheduled delivery times.
- Fill small dents or scratches with body fillers and smooth surfaces in preparation for painting.
- Buff and wax finished paintwork.
- Disassemble, clean, and reassemble sprayers and power equipment using solvents, wire brushes, and cloths.
