About The Position
The essence of the Paint Prep Technician’s role is to prepare all pieces and products for paint, while keeping a high-quality standard.
Requirements
- Able to prepare products for paint application
- Able to stand and prep all parts for extended times throughout shift.
- Good working knowledge of metal preparation and finishing
- Able to sand and finish product before painting.
- Able to coach others on sanding and prepping materials for paint.
- 2-3 years experience
- Basic computer knowledge.
- Experienced with hand tools and sanding devices
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds repetitively. Able to assist team members in repetitively heavy lifting.
- Takes ownership and prides themselves in delivering a high-quality product
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience in auto body paint preparation preferred
Responsibilities
- Assists Lead Painter in preparing products for paint
- Prepares products by doing light bodywork, sanding, blocking, filing and priming
- Places products for painting on movable platforms
- Moves and stages painted products in drying room
- Responsible for overseeing paint and prep material inventory
- Keeps work area clean and organized
- Communicate ideas and issues in a timely manner.
- Ensure high quality standards.
- Work in a team orientated manner.
- Inspect refurbished materials, assess conditions, and make recommendations for future improvements.
