About The Position

Wastequip is recruiting a Paint Prep Tech for its Erial, New Jersey location. The role prepares component and finished raw-product surfaces for painting by cleaning, grinding, and sanding them. The hourly pay is $21.30. The scheduled shift is 6:00 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, with Saturdays when needed.

Requirements

• Frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
• Be able to work overtime.
• Have less than a high school education, up to one month of related experience or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

• Examine and feel workpiece surfaces for defects.
• Select an abrasive wheel or disk according to specifications, knowledge of abrasives, and the condition of the metal, and attach it to the grinder.
• Start the grinder and move it over the workpiece surface to remove scratches, laminated metal, excess weld material, and burrs.
• Polish ground areas with finer abrasive to produce a smooth, unmarred surface.
• Replace worn abrasive disks and wheels.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
