About The Position

Assists Production Manager in the overseeing of production and non-production Department affairs in the Powder area by performing the following duties. This role involves identifying and coordinating day-to-day operations, ensuring production and quality needs are met, managing manpower and attendance, documenting data, monitoring quality, estimating and inspecting materials, interpreting specifications, establishing work procedures, conducting safety meetings, reinforcing safety policies, recommending improvements, analyzing work problems, and studying production schedules. The position requires regular attendance, punctuality, on-site work, overtime availability, cooperation with others, and the ability to perform multiple tasks in a fast-paced environment. It also includes routine troubleshooting, problem-solving, encouraging idea generation for continuous improvement, and ensuring workplace organization (5S) and equipment standards are met. The role requires providing supervision while also spending a portion of time directly working on production pieces.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3 years of painting experience in a manufacturing environment required.
  • Good understanding of Microsoft Excel, data formats, and the tools available to share data across software programs.
  • Understanding of office network environments, e-mail, and internet.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Ability to comprehend instructions, correspondence, and speak fluent English.
  • Ability to add and subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed written or oral instructions.

Responsibilities

  • Identifies and assists in coordinating and accomplishing day to day operation of flow in the shop.
  • Work directly with the Department Manager to ensure production and quality needs are achieved.
  • Manage and control manpower including attendance in the responsible area to secure line capacity and to meet delivery schedule.
  • Able to document data and write clear reports (production, rework, quality, line stop etc.).
  • Monitor quality in accordance with the company ISO Quality Plan.
  • Estimates, requisitions, and inspects material quality.
  • Examines items produced to determine if items meet specifications.
  • Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders to employees and assigns duties.
  • Establish or adjust work procedures (QWI – Quality Work Instruction) to standardize good work practices and to ensure quality of work.
  • Conduct safety bi-weekly meeting (Toolbox) to build safety awareness in the workplace with zero injury target.
  • Reinforce safety policy and rules including identify potential hazards in the work area and reduce or eliminate them.
  • Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product to Production Manager.
  • Suggest changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of the department or work crew.
  • Analyze and resolve work problems or assist workers in solving work problems.
  • Studies production schedules and estimates worker hour requirements for completion of job assignment.
  • Provide sufficient supervision while spending 20-50% directly working on production pieces.
  • Routine trouble shooting and problem solving, including finding ways of improvement for long-term solution.
  • Encourage continuous idea generation from team members for continuous process improvement in cost, time, and safety.
  • Ensure 5S (workplace organization method in the area with good housekeeping manner) is being applied on a daily basis.
  • Ensure all equipment is up to date and within the standards needed.
  • Follow updated schedules to meet ship dates provided by management.
  • Ensure all supplies are inventoried daily and submitted for order in a timely manner.
