Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree + Medical school
  • Fellowship in Pain Management
  • Board Certified
  • Strong interpersonal skills and good judgment
  • Good listening skills; strong verbal communication skills with a diverse range of individuals
  • Must have the ability to work well under pressure and stay calm/focused on emergency situations
  • Ability to think on feet
  • Be highly self-motivated and results-driven individual
  • Have the willingness to serve patients in a high-pressure environment
  • Good bedside manner, be emotionally stable and have the ability to make decisions in emergency situations
  • A desire for further education to keep up with ever changing medical advances
  • Be comfortable working with computers

Responsibilities

  • Responding to medical and health problems presented by patients including but not limited to collecting historical medical information, diagnosis, investigation, treatment, performing procedures, and providing referral opportunities as appropriate.
  • Keeping informed of medical developments, drugs, treatments, and medications and promoting health education.
  • Conducting day-to-day responsibilities such as seeing patients and responding accordingly.
  • Analyzing records, reports, test results, or examination information to diagnose medical condition of patient.
  • Prescribing or administering treatment, therapy, medication, and other specialized medical care to treat or prevent illness, disease, or injury.
  • Performing procedures on patients who are qualified for treatments.
  • Monitoring patients' condition and progress and re-evaluating treatments as necessary.
  • Maintaining strict patient confidentiality in compliance with the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA).
  • Referring patients to physicians and outside practices and hospitals in conjunction with patient diagnosis.
  • Meeting with and discussing the development of new pharmaceuticals with sales representatives.
  • Managing patient records using the Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system.
  • Maintaining a portfolio of continuing professional development activities.
  • Potentially supervising a Physician’s Assistant (PA) or Nurse Practitioner (NP).
  • Attending regular provider meetings with senior management.
