Pain Management Physician Assistant

About The Position

Pain Management Physician Assistant People living with pain need more than a prescription. They need a clinician who can sort complex stories, restore function, and keep treatment safe. In this role, you will be the physician’s partner in a busy pain practice—seeing patients, guiding multimodal plans, and measuring whether people can move, work, and sleep better.

Requirements

  • Graduate of an accredited PA program and current NCCPA certification.
  • Active state license and ability to obtain DEA registration for the practice setting.
  • Hands-on experience in pain, orthopedics, PM&R, neurology, or a closely related procedural clinic.
  • Demonstrated skill writing and defending multimodal plans, including safe controlled-substance management.
  • Procedure competence appropriate to PA scope, or a clear record of rapid, supervised skill acquisition.
  • Clear charting and patient communication under a full clinic schedule.

Responsibilities

  • Complete focused evaluations for new and returning patients and present a clear working diagnosis and plan the same day.
  • Build and adjust multimodal plans—medication, procedures, therapy, and behavioral support—tied to functional goals, not pain scores alone.
  • Perform in-scope procedures and assist in the procedure suite with consistent technique, consent, and complication checks.
  • Apply opioid and controlled-substance standards: risk screening, agreements, monitoring, and timely taper or alternative plans when benefit fades.
  • Close the loop after visits: accurate notes, orders, referrals, and patient instructions that the care team can act on without rework.
  • Track outcomes—function, medication burden, procedure response, and unplanned visits—and use that data to refine care with the supervising physician.
  • Educate patients so they leave knowing the plan, the risks, and the next milestone.
