About The Position

This role is for a Pain Management Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant (NP/PA) in an outpatient clinic setting in San Diego, CA. The assignment is for 12 months with a potential for extension. The position can be either full-time or part-time, with a pay rate of $90/hr. The responsibilities include conducting comprehensive patient evaluations, developing and managing treatment plans, prescribing and managing medications, assisting with interventional procedures, ordering and interpreting diagnostic studies, monitoring patient progress, coordinating multidisciplinary care, and educating patients and families. The role also involves participating in case conferences, quality initiatives, and continuing education, while ensuring compliance with all guidelines.

Requirements

Active California NP or PA license
Active DEA registration or ability to obtain
Current BLS/ACLS certification
Minimum 1-2 years of clinical experience preferred (pain management, orthopedics, neurology, anesthesia, or related field)
Experience with EHR systems; eClinicalWorks or Epic preferred
Strong clinical judgment and communication skills

Nice To Haves

Bilingual English/Spanish strongly preferred
Experience with chronic pain management, opioid agreements, and CURES/PDMP monitoring preferred

Responsibilities

Conduct comprehensive patient evaluations including history, physical exams, and review of diagnostic studies
Develop and manage individualized treatment plans in collaboration with supervising physicians
Prescribe and manage medications, including opioid and non-opioid therapies, in compliance with California regulations and CURES requirements
Assist with or perform interventional procedures such as trigger point injections and joint injections (training available)
Order and interpret diagnostic imaging and studies including X-ray, MRI, CT, and EMG/NCS
Monitor patient progress and document care within the electronic health record (eHealthWorks)
Coordinate multidisciplinary care including referrals to physical therapy, behavioral health, and specialty care
Educate patients and families on treatment plans and self-management strategies
Participate in case conferences, quality initiatives, and continuing education
Ensure compliance with all federal, state, and clinical guidelines
