Requirements

  • Enrolled in a Bachelor’s or Associate’s degree in Accounting or Finance program from accredited college or university.
  • Ability to work both in office and remote with minimal supervision, prioritizing tasks to get assignments completed in a timely manner.
  • Ability to research accounting treatments in a Non Profit environment.
  • Understanding of accounting operations in a Non Profit environment.
  • Solid reasoning skills including the ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to communicate clearly in written and verbal form are required.
  • Advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.
  • High degree of self-direction.
  • Ability to work effectively with all levels of staff.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain confidentiality necessary in the performance of the job.
  • Valid Michigan driver’s license with driving record acceptable according to Hope Network policy or ability to travel independently via public transport.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with the preparation of financial analyses comparing actual results to budget, forecast, and prior periods.
  • Support monthly financial reporting by gathering data, preparing schedules, and validating information for accuracy and completeness.
  • Help develop routine management reports and dashboards used by Finance and Operations leadership.
  • Perform basic trend, utilization, and variance analysis to help identify drivers of financial performance.
  • Assist with maintaining and updating financial models, assumptions, and supporting documentation.
  • Run and reconcile standard system reports that support revenue, expense, and operational analysis.
  • Support finance and accounting projects, including budgeting, forecasting, process improvement, and system or reporting enhancements.
  • Assist with basic accounting tasks such as preparing schedules, supporting journal entries, and maintaining documentation under supervision.
  • Collaborate with Finance team members to understand how financial information supports operational and strategic decision-making.
