About The Position

The Workflow Solutions Engineer is responsible for the design, integration, validation, and lifecycle support of end‑to‑end production workflows for HP PageWide Web Press solutions. This role ensures that customer jobs flow efficiently from PDF intake through printed and finished output, enabling reliable, automated, and scalable production environments. The Workflow Engineer operates at the intersection of software systems, print production processes, and customer operations, working closely with R&D, Customer Assurance Finishing Solution Engineers and Industrial Controls Engineers, Sales teams, and external partners to deliver customer‑ready workflow solutions deployed worldwide.

Requirements

  • Experience designing, integrating, or supporting software systems in an industrial or production environment.
  • Practical knowledge of PDF preparation for print, including imposition and preflight.
  • Familiarity with workflow automation concepts, APIs, and system‑to‑system integration.
  • Strong analytical, debugging, and problem‑solving skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain technical concepts to customers and cross‑functional teams.
  • Four-year or Graduate Degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, or any other related discipline or commensurate work experience or demonstrated competence.
  • Typically has 4-7 years of work experience, preferably in systems engineering, computer programming language, or a related field or an advanced degree with 3-5 years of work experience.

  • Familiarity with HP PageWide Web Press workflow ecosystem and tools.

Responsibilities

  • Design and implement end‑to‑end workflows supporting PageWide Web Press production, from job submission and prepress through printing and finishing.
  • Configure and validate workflow elements including job intake, PDF processing, imposition, and job routing.
  • Support workflow integration for nearline, offline, and hybrid finishing configurations, including coordination with finishing teams.
  • Serve as the primary technical interface between customer‑facing support teams and HP product development for workflow‑related topics.
  • Participate in customer calls and onsite visits to understand requirements, troubleshoot issues, and support solution deployment.
  • Perform system validation, testing, and customer acceptance of workflow solutions for new installs, upgrades, and design changes.
  • Troubleshoot complex workflow issues, including PDF handling, automation behavior, imposition logic, and integration with press and finishing systems.
  • Support Tier‑4 escalations, working with R&D to drive root cause, resolution, and deployment planning.
  • Document workflow architectures, configurations, and known limitations to support reuse, scalability, and knowledge transfer.
