About The Position

Responsible for the daily operations of the assigned Picture Archiving and Communication systems (PACS). The PACS Administrator will be responsible for ensuring the optimal performance, reliability, and security of imaging systems, supporting a diverse range of clinical departments including Radiology, Cardiology, the Cancer Center, and Maternal Fetal Medicine. Ensures systems are maintained in accordance with Bozeman Health standards. Acts as a liaison with the departments and customers when considering changes, integrations with or implementation of supported systems and modalities. Maintains positive vendor relationships. Responsible for department imaging related software and ancillary software and applications pertaining to imaging.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, IT, or related field; equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered
  • PACS certification, or completed within two years of hire.
  • Two (2) years of desktop experience or work experience in an IT-related field
  • Two (2) years of work experience in IT or as a Radiology Technologist
  • Experience with software performance modification
  • Demonstrates sound judgment, patience, and maintains a professional demeanor at all times
  • Exercises tact, discretion, sensitivity, and maintains confidentiality
  • Performs essential job functions successfully in a busy and stressful environment
  • Learns current and new computer applications and office equipment utilized at Bozeman Health
  • Strong interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills

Responsibilities

  • Ensure daily operations and maintenance of PACS for optimal uptime and reliability.
  • Monitor performance, troubleshoot, and implement solutions to minimize downtime.
  • Manage PACS integration with other hospital systems, including EHR and HIS.
  • Utilize advanced monitoring tools and predictive analytics to preemptively address system issues.
  • Develop and enforce security protocols to protect imaging data and comply with HIPAA and regulatory standards.
  • Coordinate with clinical departments to tailor PACS functionalities to their needs, enhancing user satisfaction.
  • Implement cloud-based PACS solutions to reduce hardware footprint and optimize costs.
  • Configure and maintain storage solutions for efficient data archiving and retrieval.
  • Establish and manage disaster recovery plans to ensure business continuity and data integrity.
  • Provide high-level technical support and serve as the primary escalation point for complex PACS issues.
  • Maintain detailed system documentation, including configurations, processes, and troubleshooting guides.
  • Train and mentor radiology technologists, physicians, and IT support staff, fostering professional growth and skill development.
  • Participate in budget planning and financial management, identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  • Lead regular audits and compliance checks to ensure all systems meet regulatory and industry standards.
  • Drive continuous improvement by staying updated with the latest advancements in PACS and imaging technologies.
  • Provide expert technical support to clinical staff and end-users, resolving issues promptly to minimize downtime and maximize productivity.
  • Conduct regular system audits to ensure data integrity, security, and regulatory compliance.
  • Implement and maintain backup and disaster recovery plans to safeguard data and ensure business continuity.
  • Stay informed about industry trends and emerging technologies to identify opportunities for innovation and revenue growth.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with key stakeholders to ensure PACS initiatives align with organizational goals.
  • Lead and participate in system upgrades, migrations, and other projects to ensure successful implementation with minimal disruption.
  • Develop project plans, including timelines, resource allocation, and risk management strategies.
  • Collaborate with vendors and third-party providers to manage software updates, hardware replacements, and new technology deployments.
  • Assist in developing and managing the PACS budget, optimizing resource allocation and identifying cost-saving opportunities.
  • Conduct financial analysis to support decision-making and ensure the financial sustainability of imaging services.
  • Manage procurement processes, including preparing quotes, ordering equipment, and coordinating with vendors for timely and cost-effective purchases.
  • Develop and deliver training programs for clinical staff and end-users to ensure proficient use of PACS and related technologies.
  • Create and maintain comprehensive documentation, including system configurations, operational procedures, and troubleshooting guides.
