About The Position

Performs a variety of duties in the Packing Department, Inside Production. Is required to rotate among duties as needed. The work schedule is Monday - Saturday during peak season from 6:00 am to 3:00 pm.

Requirements

Good eye/hand coordination.

Responsibilities

Stands by moving conveyor and presses or places product into the machine-packed jar.
Lifts product from conveyor to finish filling machine-packed jars.
Inspects product for foreign objects, broken pickles and defective glass.
Inspects product on conveyor that feeds packing machine.
Inspects glass jars visually.
Using protective glove, takes defective or broken glass jars off packing line.
Monitors product being discharged from the pasteurizers for deviations from established standards.
Removes individual jars from the conveyor by hand if they contain slack pack or tight pack, product breakage, capping defects, bent lugs, possible foreign objects, etc.
Places rejected items in designated boxes to be analyzed for disposal or repack.
Removes and throws away broken jars, using safety gloves.
Inspects finished product before starting the capping process.
Transports empty jars by cart to the glass line.
Participates in training, employee meetings, committees, project teams, etc. as appropriate.
Receives written instructions from packing schedule or verbal instructions from supervisor on above tasks and performs other work as directed by supervisor within restrictions.
