Packer - Second Shift
About The Position
Utz Quality Foods is recruiting a Packer for its manufacturing facility in Goodyear, Arizona. The Packer inspects finished products before bagging and places bagged products into boxes, cases, or displays. The role supports food-safety cleanliness objectives and established plant safety standards. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 3:00 PM to 11:00 PM. The position also includes packaging, sanitation, cleaning, and rework duties. Packers maintain an organized and sanitary work environment, perform weekly sanitation duties, and may train new packers and provide breaks and lunches.
Requirements
- Basic math and reading skills.
- Knowledge of product quality and production processes.
- Ability and willingness to stand 100% of the time.
- Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.
- Ability to perform sanitation duties weekly.
Responsibilities
- Inspect packaged items and alert the Machine Operator or Shift Supervisor to problems.
- Verify package weight, code, dates, and price.
- Examine packages for proper seals and report conditions that could lead to product contamination.
- Pack products into cartons, cans, and specialty containers, and place containers onto skids.
- Train new packers.
- Prepare items when “extra.”
- Label boxes and barrels.
- Rework items.
- Clean work areas and maintain an organized, sanitary work environment.
- Give breaks and lunches.
- Pick chips in the processing room as needed.
- Perform sanitation duties every Friday and other weekly sanitation duties.
- Disassemble, clean, and reassemble packaging machines.
- Use cleaning chemicals, brooms, air guns, and other tools as needed.
