About The Position

The Packer inspects and packs bottles at the standard rate on assigned production lines and is responsible for general housekeeping. The role may include removing and grinding scrap, pulling plastic, operating a punch, loading a conveyor or flamer, and packing blank or decorated bottles. The employee may also tape and unitize cartons, prepare unit tickets, and initial and date box labels. Other job-related duties may be assigned by the Supervisor. The position requires following Silgan safety policies and procedures, monitoring bottles for quality defects, and promptly notifying the operator or coordinator of defects. Silgan offers a referral bonus and an incentive program.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
At least 1 year of manufacturing experience.
Dependability and a good attendance record.
Ability to understand bottle specifications to ensure proper bottle inspection.

Responsibilities

Inspect bottles and monitor for quality defects; promptly inform the operator and/or coordinator of defects.
Pack bottles at the standard rate on assigned line(s).
Follow safety policies and procedures to promote a safe working environment and prevent injury.
Operate a punch as required.
Load conveyors and flamers as required.
Maintain housekeeping on assigned line(s) and around the machine, including mopping if necessary.
Remove scrap from around the line; grind scrap and pull plastic as needed.
Make and unitize cartons as assigned; tape cartons as required.
Initial and date box labels.
Prepare unit tickets.
Perform other work-related duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
