About The Position

The Packer inspects bottles for quality and packs them at the standard rate on assigned production lines. The position also involves maintaining general housekeeping, removing and grinding scrap, and pulling plastic. Depending on assignment, the Packer may operate a punch, load a conveyor or flamer, pack blank or decorated bottles, and make, tape, and unitize cartons. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 2:50 p.m. to 11:00 p.m. The role requires working with materials weighing 30–40 pounds.

Requirements

High school diploma or GED.
At least 1 year of manufacturing experience.
Dependability and a good attendance record.
Ability to understand bottle specifications to ensure proper bottle inspection.
Ability to work with materials weighing 30–40 pounds.

Responsibilities

Promote a safe working environment and follow Silgan safety policies and procedures.
Monitor bottles for quality defects and promptly inform the operator and/or coordinator.
Pack bottles at the standard rate on assigned lines.
Operate a punch as required.
Load conveyors and flamers as required.
Maintain housekeeping on assigned lines and around machinery, including mopping when necessary.
Remove scrap from around the line; grind scrap and pull plastic as needed.
Make and unitize cartons as assigned, and tape cartons when required.
Initial and date box labels.
Prepare unit tickets.
Perform other work-related duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
