About The Position

The Packer promotes a safe working environment and follows Silgan safety policies and procedures to help prevent injuries. The role involves monitoring product for quality defects, packing at the standard rate, operating a punch, loading conveyors and flamers, and maintaining cleanliness around assigned lines and machines. Additional duties include removing scrap, grinding and pulling plastic as needed, preparing and unitizing cartons, labeling boxes, completing unit tickets, and performing other work assigned by the Supervisor.

Responsibilities

• Promote a safe working environment.
• Understand and follow Silgan safety policies and procedures to prevent injury to oneself and co-workers.
• Monitor ware for quality defects and promptly inform the operator and/or coordinator.
• Pack at the standard rate.
• Operate a punch.
• Load conveyors and flamers.
• Maintain housekeeping on assigned lines and around machines, including mopping if necessary.
• Remove scrap from around the line.
• Grind and pull plastic as needed.
• Make and unitize cartons as assigned.
• Initial and date box labels.
• Complete unit tickets.
• Perform other work assigned by the Supervisor.
