About The Position

Brazeau County is looking for a temporary Packer Operator to join our Public Works Construction team from May to October. This position offers a busy season of work with the opportunity for paid overtime. If you have experience operating a packer and enjoy working as a team member, this may be a great fit for you. This equipment operator’s primary responsibility will be to operate a packer on various construction projects within the County. The operator may be required to operate a rock truck and carry out related duties in other areas.

Requirements

High School Diploma or equivalent.
A valid Class 5 Driver’s License is required
A satisfactory Five-Year Commercial Driver’s Abstract is required.
Minimum three years’ operating related equipment is required
A strong service focus with good verbal and written communication skills are required to communicate effectively.
Must be able to work independently and as a team member.
Ability to carry out physical labor.
Must be able to work for the duration of the season

Nice To Haves

Ability to operate other equipment including loaders is considered an asset.

Responsibilities

Operates construction equipment including a packer and rock truck for various road maintenance and construction functions.
Services and performs minor maintenance on assigned equipment.
Ability to operate other construction equipment when needed
Performs various labourer duties as required.
Adheres to guidelines as set out in Brazeau County’s policies and administrative directives, and the Collective Bargaining Agreement.
Accountable for working in compliance with the Alberta Occupational Health and Safety Act, regulations, and codes, and participates in the Health and Safety Program.
Overtime and weekend work will be required as necessary for operational needs.
Shift work may be implemented as required, including emergency response callouts.
May be required in the event of a municipal emergency to support the emergency operations centre and incident action/recovery plan.
