About The Position

Avery Dennison Corporation is a global materials science and digital identification solutions company. This role is for a Finishing Operator who may be responsible for functions within the Finishing operations, including packing, core cutting, and material handling, operating a slitter, or floating between these positions. The shift for this role is Monday to Friday, 10pm to 6am.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (GED) or 3+ years of relevant manufacturing work experience
  • Regard safety as a core value; serve as a role model for other employees and encourage adherence to safety practices, policies and procedures
  • Strong service and quality focus; address issues effectively when problems arise and take initiative to understand root causes, then communicate / education team in a timely manner
  • Able and willing to work overtime, including short-notice requests
  • Proficiency with computer applications

  • Previous manufacturing experience preferred

Responsibilities

  • Inspect general appearance of finished product
  • Keep area supplied with necessary packaging materials
  • Prepare cores for machine operators
  • Perform duties to continuously improve quality and productivity
  • Perform 5S duties and audits
  • Assist in equipment maintenance activities as directed
  • Participate in group problem-solving teams and continuous improvement activities
  • Sort, label, and package finished goods for shipment per customer specifications, quality requirements, and standard practices
  • Communicate and coordinate necessary information to appropriate shift/department personnel to ensure effective operations
  • Track multiple orders being packed at one time
  • Maintain a clean, safe work area
  • Print slitting diagrams
  • Cut 3" and 6" Cores for all Slitters
  • Retrieve, Replenish & Deliver Core
  • Check Cores for Accuracy, Quality of Cuts & Adequate Quantity for Productions
  • Dump blue bins at the end of the shift and when necessary
  • Dump recyclables daily
  • Perform Forklift Inspection
  • Trim Compactor Controls & Operational Procedures
  • Move material to/from raw, WIP, Finishing, Shipping, Receiving and manufacturing areas
  • Complete appropriate transactions to document the movement of material within the Inventory Management System
  • Support inventory accuracy: Complete warehouse and departmental cycle counts and correct discrepancies
  • Help manage winding drum and rack inventories
  • Pick up and transfer material racks, pallets and other consumable supplies to/from production areas, as required
  • Condense warehouse space and maintain good housekeeping
  • Perform all assignments, duties and tasks in a safe manner following standard procedures and practices
  • Encourage others to do so
  • Correct and/or report all unsafe conditions immediately
