Packaging/Verification Lead
About The Position
Corning is a world leader in glass, ceramic, and materials science, known for its innovation. The Optical Communications segment has evolved into a comprehensive provider of optical solutions. This position is for a Warehouse Lead who will assist the Shipping and DC Supervisor in managing and overseeing all warehouse functions to ensure smooth operations. The Lead will ensure materials are pulled and delivered to internal/external customers, meeting SLAs, and will prepare materials for shipping by weighing, packaging, and stamping, and preparing necessary shipping forms. They will also ensure transactions are properly recorded in systems like SAP, FedEx, and UPS.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED required
- Over 3 years’ experience in a manufacturing environment with 6 months or more leadership, project leader and/or training experience.
- Forklift experience
- 1-3 years experience with PC's and associated software (Quality Management Software, SAP & MS Office).
- Ability to effectively work individually and in a team environment
- Ability to lift up to 50lbs
- Attention to detail
- Specific knowledge of standard concepts, practices and procedures related to production and warehousing processes in assigned area of responsibility
Responsibilities
- Determine method of shipment utilizing knowledge of shipping procedures; prepare materials for shipping by weighing, packaging and stamping; prepare necessary shipping forms such as bills of lading
- Ensure that transactions are properly recorded in required systems (SAP, FedEx, UPS, etc.)
- Order and maintain department inventory of tools and supplies
- Support and provide general reporting to Engineering, Technology and Production testing departments; represent respective area in meetings
- Operate mechanical equipment as required, ie forklift, pallet jacks, etc.
- Conduct cycle counts and other audits as required
- Support and encourage employees to enhance their performance and, where appropriate, offer training on various departmental tasks
- Conduct on the job training to new employees and resolve problems utilizing knowledge of shipping/receiving/stock operations
- Lead teams in continuous improvement activities related to visual management, Quality, 5S and other lean concepts; maintain standards to ensure compliance with TL9000 quality requirements
- Contribute to the 5S departmental goals by maintaining the cleanliness of the production, shipping and warehouse areas
