Packaging Testing Technician
About The Position
The Packaging Testing Technician receives customer samples, records sample information, and conducts transit and package integrity testing according to ASTM standards, ISTA standards, or customer protocols. The technician enters sample information into the laboratory inventory management system, may generate work orders, prepares test evidence reports, and performs entry-level data review and reporting while following good documentation practices. The role maintains packaging testing records, monitors testing services, supports customers with status updates and results, reports deviations to the Operations Manager, and complies with Quality Management System procedures and company policies. The position is full-time, Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., and is intended for candidates within commuting distance of San Jose, California. Compensation is $22–$30 per hour, depending on qualifications and related experience.
Requirements
- High school diploma or GED.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, including Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, and general computer literacy.
- Ability to lift bulky items up to 30 pounds and climb, bend, and reach without restriction.
Nice To Haves
- Production testing or related industry experience is desired but not required.
- Knowledge of ASTM standards is desired.
Responsibilities
- Receive customer samples and record information in the shipping and receiving log.
- Conduct transit and package integrity testing according to ASTM standards, ISTA standards, or customer protocols.
- Add sample information to the laboratory inventory management system and, when applicable, generate work orders.
- Prepare test evidence reports.
- Perform entry-level data review and reporting while following good documentation practices.
- Maintain packaging testing records.
- Monitor testing services and provide customer support.
- Update customers on test status, updates, and results.
- Report observed deviations to the Operations Manager.
- Comply with Quality Management System procedures and company policies.
