About The Position

Under the direction of the Production Manager, the Packaging Supervisor is responsible for organizing the packing and additive personnel and all parts of the packing process. This role is also responsible for staffing, training, and coordinating all aspects of the packing department, ensuring adequate and prompt packing of product while maintaining equipment and machinery in accurate working condition. The supervisor ensures support of departmental safety goals, environmental ISO-14000, corporate mandates, and other assignments as required.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in business management, manufacturing, or a related agricultural field.
  • At least 2 years of Supervisory related experience.

Nice To Haves

  • HACCP and other Safety Certifications are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Control and ensure the packing of 50 lb. and retail bags.
  • Control and ensure the packing of Hopper Cars.
  • Ensure the quality of the product (flour) is being packed.
  • Supervise the addition of additives to the flour.
  • Supervise the reprocess of flour and interchange.
  • Ensure that all packing and additive reports are filled out correctly.
  • Ensure that all employees under their supervision have their safety equipment.
  • Ensure that the packing and additive areas are kept clean.
  • Perform additional duties in relation to the local packing area as required.
  • Know and apply Food Safety Policy principles in relation to all work-related activities and the importance of full compliance of the program.
  • Know and apply Quality and Food Safety principles and all applicable instructions in all related activities to ensure the achievement of safety objectives.
  • Know the Food Safety Management System and support in its implementation, maintenance, and improvement.
  • Know and apply Environmental Policy principles while maintaining awareness of related activities and contribute to the program's successful performance and compliance.
  • Perform all activities and avoid creating significant environmental impacts by following guidelines established in the Environmental Management Systems documents.
  • Understand and apply the Environmental Management System documents applicable to their role, with an awareness of the relevance and importance of their activities to achieve EMS objectives, including environmental protections and compliance with applicable legal requirements.
