About The Position

The Packaging Operator will be a multi-skilled packing associate responsible for achieving maximum efficiency of our packing lines while ensuring the highest safety and quality standards are maintained. This role also plays a pivotal part in identifying and delivering continuous improvement projects within the packaging hall.

Requirements

  • Good basic math, reading, and writing skills.
  • Good mechanical aptitude.
  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • 1-2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment preferred.
  • Good housekeeping skills and knowledge of GMP's.
  • Basic knowledge of personal computers.
  • Good problem-solving skills.
  • Ability and willingness to develop and manage self, demonstrate self-directed workgroup leadership, and contribute to efficiency, quality, and cost optimization with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work 12-hour night shifts under stressful conditions such as heat, cold, high and/or confined spaces.
  • Full mobility with the ability to climb ladders and stairs.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all duties on a rotational basis in the packaging area of the plant.
  • Operate Tub Line, including running to schedule, performing changeovers, and troubleshooting lines.
  • Maintain smooth operation of the palletizer.
  • Operate and monitor the blending system.
  • Perform required quality checks and reporting.
  • Monitor product flow to the line.
  • Meet cut-off and tonnes requirements.
  • Enter work orders into the MIS system as needed and support maintenance on calls.
  • Maintain a clean, safe work environment that promotes associate safety and product integrity.
  • Actively address food safety and quality concerns.
  • Improve operations through individual and group problem-solving and provide leadership in solving problems on the floor and in meetings.
  • Promote a high-quality team environment through effective teamwork and self-management with a positive attitude.
  • Perform CP0 handoff and other MSE related functions.
  • Train other area associates in the operation of lines.
  • Cover vacations for other packaging associates in this role.
  • Perform other similar duties as assigned.
