About The Position

Lifeway Foods, a leading supplier of Kefir and other fermented dairy products, is seeking a Packaging Operator. This role involves working with sleeving and packaging machines, ensuring safe, efficient, and high-quality packaging operations. The company has been recognized by Forbes and is a growing Chicago-based beverage manufacturer with over 40 years of experience.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent, or three to six months of related experience.
Demonstrate intellectual and interpersonal skills (leadership, organization, self-efficacy).
Ability to read and write comprehensive reports and procedure manuals and present them effectively.
Basic mathematical skills, including understanding of algebra and geometry.
Knowledge of Manufacturing Software, Inventory Software, and Microsoft Office (Excel, Outlook).
Ability to lift 50 lbs.
Ability to be on your feet for an 8-hour shift.
Ability to climb ladders and maneuver through equipment.

Responsibilities

Operate and clean sleeving and packaging machines following procedures.
Ensure sleeves are applied correctly to bottles and monitor for backups.
Put away sleeves as needed.
Verify date codes are correct for the day's production.
Communicate machine status and quality issues to supervisors.
Relieve other Machine Operators during downtime or reassignments to maintain efficiency.
Assist with unloading and loading trailers.
Refill empty cap totes.
Perform basic troubleshooting and routine maintenance on machines.
Report to workstation on time, wear proper attire, and assist in setting up the work area.
Pass a forklift exam.
Perform duties according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) and Sanitization Standard Operating Procedures (SSOP) that meet quality and safety standards (HACCP, FDA, EPA, OSHA, USDA, WDA, customer requirements).
Comply with Lifeway Employee Policy.
Perform additional duties as assigned.
