About The Position

The Packaging Operator I is responsible for packaging a variety of products according to customer specifications. This role involves reviewing work orders, inspecting products for defects, manual weighing and counting, operating packaging machines, and ensuring packaged products meet quality standards. The position requires accurate completion of departmental paperwork and active participation in safety and health program activities. Employees are expected to report hazards and incidents, wear required personal protective equipment, and support safety committee activities. Requirements

High School diploma or GED equivalent required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Basic Reading, writing and math skills
Good mechanical aptitude and attention to detail.
Able to work accurately from verbal and written instructions

Responsibilities

Reviews Work Orders to determine packaging requirements.
Visually inspects product for defects and transfers defective items to the appropriate location.
Manual weighing and counting of product.
Loads product into packaging machines.
Monitors machines for proper function.
Unloads and visually inspects packaged product to ensure it meets quality standards.
Places packaged product into boxes.
Applies identification labels to boxes.
Accurately completes departmental paperwork.
Participates in safety and health program activities, including reporting hazards and incidents, wearing required PPE, and supporting safety committee activities.
