About The Position

This role involves packaging a variety of products according to customer specifications. The Packaging Operator I will review work orders to determine packaging requirements, visually inspect products for defects, and transfer defective items. Responsibilities include manual weighing and counting of product, loading product into packaging machines, monitoring machines for proper function, and unloading and inspecting packaged product to ensure quality standards are met. The operator will also place packaged product into boxes, apply identification labels, and accurately complete departmental paperwork. Employees are expected to participate in safety and health program activities, report hazards and incidents, wear required personal protective equipment, and support safety committee activities.

Requirements

High School diploma or GED equivalent required, or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Basic Reading, writing and math skills.

Responsibilities

Reviews Work Orders to determine packaging requirements.
Visually inspects product for defects and transfers defective items to the appropriate location.
Manual weighing and counting of product.
Loads product into packaging machines.
Monitors machines for proper function.
Unloads and visually inspects packaged product to ensure it meets quality standards.
Places packaged product into boxes.
Applies identification labels to boxes.
Accurately completes departmental paperwork.
Participates in safety and health program activities, including reporting hazards and incidents, wearing required PPE, and supporting safety committee activities.
