About The Position

The Packaging Operator EBM is responsible for operating and maintaining various packaging equipment, ensuring smooth operations, and performing quality checks. This role involves both manual and automated tasks to prepare products for shipment. The operator must adhere to safety and environmental standards, maintain high cleanliness, and accurately document production records.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Capable of lifting 55 pounds.
  • Able to stand for a minimum of 12 hours.
  • Able to work with multiple types of equipment simultaneously.
  • High cleanliness standards for the machines and work area.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, push and pull, reach with hands and arms.
  • Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl and talk or hear.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 lbs. Frequently lift and/or move up to 38 lbs. and occasionally lift and/or move or push/pull up to 55 lbs.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision.
  • Must act in a safe environmentally responsible manner at all times by adhering to all ALPLA policies and procedures and Safety Standards (OSHA).

  • Min. 6 months of manufacturing experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, maintain, and troubleshoot multiple types of packaging equipment including carton erectors, partition inserters, production inserters (MPV, VPM, PLU), foil dispensers, top closers, and palletization equipment.
  • Perform manual tasks such as loading, building, and making boxes, and hand packaging of bottles.
  • Load labels onto equipment.
  • Perform routine cleaning and minor maintenance of equipment.
  • Load and unload packaging materials such as corrugate, containers, or other raw materials.
  • Accurately document records of finished goods, packaging specifications, and visual quality checks.
  • Perform changeovers of various packaging equipment (e.g., case erector, partition inserter, top sealer).
  • Apply correct labels to products.
  • Perform quality checks, including visual inspection of product, labels, and packaging integrity for defects.
  • Perform autonomous maintenance.
  • Maintain a labeling accuracy rate of 100%.
  • Perform all required quality checks with 100% completion and accuracy, identifying and reporting any defects per standard operating procedures.
  • Ensure line clearance accuracy.
  • Complete autonomous maintenance tasks.
