About The Position

McKee Foods is seeking a Packaging Mechanic to join our Maintenance team. This role involves performing preventive maintenance and general repairs on all process equipment, setting up and changing over packaging equipment, and diagnosing and resolving equipment failures in a multi-skilled environment. The Packaging Mechanic will also be responsible for rebuilding equipment and components to ensure reliability, modifying and enhancing equipment performance, and providing technical assistance to production teams. Additionally, the role requires maintaining detailed maintenance records, operating necessary tools and computers, ensuring shop and toolbox cleanliness, and participating in training programs. Additional tasks may be assigned by the supervisor.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience maintaining automated industrial equipment or equivalent technical training
  • Strong knowledge of electrical and electronic controls
  • Demonstrated commitment to safety and product quality
  • Above-average mechanical, electrical, and electronic aptitude
  • Self-motivated, creative, and team-oriented with excellent communication skills
  • Ability to work independently and maintain a clean, organized work area
  • Proficient in PC usage

Nice To Haves

  • 4 years of experience in general industrial maintenance
  • 1 year of experience with metal fabrication
  • Experience in installing automated equipment

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventive maintenance and general repairs on all process equipment
  • Set up and change over packaging equipment as required
  • Diagnose and resolve equipment failures in a multi-skilled environment
  • Rebuild equipment and components routinely to ensure reliability
  • Modify and enhance equipment performance as needed
  • Provide technical assistance to production teams
  • Maintain detailed maintenance records and communicate effectively with team members
  • Operate all necessary tools, vehicles, and computers for troubleshooting and repair tasks
  • Ensure cleanliness and organization of the maintenance shop and toolbox
  • Participate in training programs to improve technical skills
  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the supervisor
