About The Position

The Packaging Mechanic is responsible for preparing tanks and enclosures for generator assembly by performing mechanical and basic electrical installation tasks. This role supports production goals by assembling, mounting, rigging, piping, wiring, and installing generator system components in accordance with standardized work instructions, safety procedures, and quality requirements, while maintaining compliance with company policies, OSHA regulations, and ISO quality standards.

Requirements

Minimum of five years commercial generator experience and/or training in an electrical/mechanical field; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Must be willing to meet overtime demands.
Strong understanding of setup techniques and installation processes.
Ability to read and pre-plan jobs using schematics.
Knowledge of proper rigging techniques for generators, breakers, and related equipment.
Ability to bolt generators down securely.
Ability to make push-lock hoses.
Ability to identify fuel in/fuel out on generators.
Ability to connect fuel lines and run wires in loom.
Strong hand and power tool techniques.
Ability to measure for shrouds, flanges, bolt holes, and special instructions.
Ability to identify and work with different fittings (JIC, Barb, NPT, Boss, etc.).
Ability to fill out QC paperwork and ship-loose documentation.
Ability to install a wide range of generator accessories and systems.
Strong teamwork and communication skills.
Commitment to safe work practices and proper use of PPE.

Responsibilities

Prepare tanks and enclosures for generator assembly.
Perform setup, layout, and installation tasks using proper techniques.
Work with black iron piping and exhaust tubing.
Use basic hand tools, wrenches, ratchets, screwdrivers, and power tools.
Demonstrate comprehension of single-phase and three-phase AC systems and basic DC control systems.
Apply basic electrical codes and good wiring practices.
Perform pipe fitting and threading.
Use hydraulic cutters and crimpers.
Solve basic mathematical equations related to measurements and fitment.
Interpret and fabricate from specifications, blueprints, and work instructions.
Operate forklifts safely and effectively (as trained and authorized).
Perform rigging tasks for generators, breakers, and related equipment.
Measure, install, and secure fuel, oil, and coolant lines.
Install exhaust kits, vents, bulkheads, condensate drains, and natural gas piping.
Mount generators to fuel tanks and secure hardware properly.
Install annunciators, isolators, fuel filters, fuel polishers, breakers, battery kits, crankcase ventilation systems, and intake/discharge plenums.
Run wires in loom and cut/crimp cables.
Seal enclosures and tanks properly.
Identify fittings (JIC, Barb, NPT, Boss, etc.).
Complete QC paperwork and ship-loose documentation accurately.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
Enforce strict adherence to safety standards and use of required PPE.
Meet assigned goals and objectives in a timely manner.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Plant Manager or Supervisor.
