About The Position

This role is for a 1st shift Packaging Mechanic working from 7 AM to 3:30 PM. The primary responsibilities involve maintaining and repairing mechanical devices in a production environment, ensuring safety and compliance with regulations, and contributing to team efforts. The position requires learning production processes and equipment, managing inventory, and documenting maintenance activities. A working understanding of food safety requirements is also necessary.

Requirements

  • Ability to communicate with others orally.
  • Ability to add and subtract two-digit numbers.
  • Ability to multiply and divide with 10's and 100's.
  • Must follow all safety regulations required by Company and OSHA.
  • Must observe and learn process of production and equipment knowledge.
  • Required to shadow A class mechanic and/or Area Leader.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools.
  • Experience with precision measuring and testing instruments.
  • Knowledge of BRC, SQF and USDA food safety requirements.

Responsibilities

  • Follow all safety regulations required by Company and OSHA.
  • Locate sources of problems by observing mechanical devices in operation and listening for issues.
  • Use precision measuring and testing instruments to diagnose problems.
  • Shadow an A-class mechanic and/or Area Leader to learn.
  • Observe and learn the production process and gain equipment knowledge.
  • Remove defective parts by dismantling devices using hoists, cranes, and hand and power tools.
  • Examine the form and texture of parts.
  • Maintain equipment, parts, and supplies inventories by checking stock and anticipating needs.
  • Conserve maintenance resources by using equipment and supplies efficiently.
  • Maintain continuity among work teams by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Maintain a safe and clean working environment by complying with procedures, rules, and regulations.
  • Have a working understanding of food safety requirements as outlined in BRC, SQF and USDA.
  • Contribute to team effort by accomplishing related results as needed.
  • Fill out the Daily Maintenance Form.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
  • Stay in the role for 1 year before advancement opportunities in another mechanical skill class.
