About The Position

The Packaging Mechanic is responsible for performing all functions according to current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP). This role involves the installation, repair, and troubleshooting of process equipment, including electrical, pneumatic, electronic, and mechanical systems. The mechanic will efficiently maintain operating machines, correct malfunctions, and perform scheduled preventive maintenance. They will also be responsible for selecting and collecting necessary parts from the storeroom, collaborating with other mechanics, and managing downtime, changeover time, PMs, and productivity results. The position requires maintaining equipment efficiency, communicating equipment deterioration, and ensuring a safe, clean, and organized work area. Adherence to safety procedures, including Lock Out/Tag Out, is mandatory. The role also involves recommending maintenance improvements, restarting machines quickly when needed, and reporting unsafe conditions to the supervisor. Compliance with Cipla's Safety, Health, and Environmental policies is expected, along with performing other assigned duties.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • 2-4 years of experience in packaging with knowledge of repairing and maintenance activity and qualifications, preferably in a pharmaceutical company.
  • Knowledge of current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP), Packaging Area Standard Operating Procedures and Food and Drug Administration (FDA) regulations
  • Must be able to clearly communicate in English (verbal and written).
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to work in fast-paced manufacturing environment and handle multiple tasks simultaneously.
  • Good basic math knowledge and excellent attention to details.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all functions according to current Good Manufacturing Practices (cGMP) and Standard Operating Procedures (SOP).
  • Perform installation, repair, and troubleshooting of process equipment as required, including electrical, pneumatic & electronic, and mechanical systems.
  • Efficiently maintain operating machines and correct any malfunctions.
  • Perform schedule preventive maintenance of equipment.
  • Select and collect parts required for repair from storeroom.
  • Work with other mechanics to set up, troubleshoot, and repair process equipment.
  • Responsible for "Downtime", "Change Over Time", "PM's" and "Productivity" results.
  • Responsible for completion of the PM’s, in the required amount of time to maintain equipment efficiency.
  • Communicate possible deterioration of equipment by using the parts logbook and the troubleshooting form – “One Point Lesson”.
  • Maintain a safe, clean and organized work area with all automatic equipment 100% functional.
  • Follow safe procedures when repairing or maintaining equipment.
  • Use Log Out/Tag out and all required safety equipment.
  • Recommend equipment maintenance improvement to reduce cost and safety hazards.
  • Restart machines in a short period of time when required by business needs.
  • Provide immediate feedback to Supervisor on unsafe equipment or working conditions.
  • Adhere to CIPLA Safety, Health and Environmental policies.
  • Other duties as assigned.
