About The Position

This position is for a Packaging Line Operator on the 3rd shift in the Centralized Packaging department within the Mill. The role involves operating machinery, producing packaged pallet loads, performing preventive maintenance, and working collaboratively within the production flow. The operator will also learn and utilize the Factory Floor System and relevant computer software. Responsibilities may extend to any area of the plant, and good housekeeping is essential. The role also includes training new or backup operators and performing other duties as directed by supervision.

Requirements

  • Safety – employee cannot have any OSHA recordable or lost time injuries within the past 6 months that were the result of the employee’s actions and/or failure to follow safety policies/procedures.
  • Performance - employee cannot have a corrective action on file for the past 6 months
  • Timing – Employee must have served at least 6 consecutive months in their current position.
  • Required to read and write
  • Good written and oral communication skills
  • Computer knowledge and experience working with Microsoft Office products: Word, Excel, Outlook, and Power Point
  • Ability to apply basic mathematical concepts like addition, subtraction, multiplication and division to such tasks as inventory control, material ordering, and job order verification.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an assorted number of tasks or instructions.
  • Regularly required to stand, walk, talk, hear, bend, and crouch.
  • Frequently required to use hands to finger, handle, or feel and reach with hands and arms.
  • Frequently required to lift up to 50 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or general equivalency degree (GED) is preferred
  • 1-3 years manufacturing experience preferred
  • Forklift operators experience preferred
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret common business documents such as packing lists, manifests, bills of lading, pallet tickets, or job orders.
  • Ability to listen and communicate effectively with co-workers and customers/clients in an effort to respond to common inquiries or complaints.

  • Perform as a team member by working with and around each of the productions flows in the Mill
  • Work hours as needed
  • Learn Factory Floor System and operate computer software relative to machine

  • Maintain good housekeeping and cleaning
  • Train new or back-up operators as needed
  • Perform other duties as directed by the Supervisor or other member of the plant leadership team
