About The Position

Humboldt Sawmill Company (HSC) is seeking Packaging Laborers to join their Planer team in Scotia, CA. This is a Day Shift position (Monday-Friday, 5:30 am - 2:00 pm). The role is non-exempt with an hourly rate of $24.87 and offers full benefits including Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K match, and company-paid Life Insurance. The Mendocino Companies, which includes HSC, own significant timberland, operate as a major wood treater and lumber producer, and provide employment for 950 individuals and their families across the Western USA. They also operate a biomass cogeneration power plant and a wood pellet plant.

Requirements

• High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or a minimum of one (1) month of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Ability to read, understand, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
• Ability to follow instructions provided in written, verbal, or diagram form and apply common sense understanding to carry out tasks
• Basic reading and writing skills, including the ability to read instructions and memos and write simple sentences

Nice To Haves

• Forklift certification preferred, or the ability to successfully complete training and obtain certification

Responsibilities

• Perform lumber piece pulls
• Apply and remove banding as needed
• Operate and utilize the lumber track (computer) system
• Operate forklifts safely and efficiently
• Maintain cleanliness and perform general housekeeping duties
• Complete barcoding activities accurately
• Provide relief support for machine operators
• Assist on the lumber wrap line
• Support lumber treater operations as a helper
• Conduct inventory and cycle counts
• Work in various departments as needed
• Maintain a clean and organized work area at all times
