About The Position

Humboldt Sawmill Company (HSC) is seeking Packaging Laborers to join their Planer team in Scotia, CA. This position is for the Day Shift, operating Monday through Friday from 5:30 am to 2:00 pm. It is a non-exempt role with an hourly rate of $24.87 and includes comprehensive benefits such as Medical, Dental, Vision, 401K match, and company-paid Life Insurance. The Mendocino Companies, which include HSC, are a significant entity in the timber and wood treatment industry, owning substantial FSC® certified timberland and operating as the largest redwood lumber producer globally. They employ 950 individuals across the Western USA and also operate a biomass cogeneration power plant and a wood pellet plant.

Requirements

• High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED); or a minimum of one (1) month of related experience and/or training; or an equivalent combination of education and experience
• Forklift certification preferred, or the ability to successfully complete training and obtain certification
• Ability to read, understand, and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals
• Ability to follow instructions provided in written, verbal, or diagram form and apply common sense understanding to carry out tasks
• Basic reading and writing skills, including the ability to read instructions and memos and write simple sentences

Responsibilities

• Perform lumber piece pulls
• Apply and remove banding as needed
• Operate and utilize the lumber track (computer) system
• Operate forklifts safely and efficiently
• Maintain cleanliness and perform general housekeeping duties
• Complete barcoding activities accurately
• Provide relief support for machine operators
• Assist on the lumber wrap line
• Support lumber treater operations as a helper
• Conduct inventory and cycle counts
• Work in various departments as needed
• Maintain a clean and organized work area at all times
